Samyang V-AF 20mm T1.9 for Sony EF - compact cinema lens
The lens set to be released in 2023 is now here - and expands the V-AF series with yet another autofocus lens for video creators along with a new anamorphic adapter.
Samyang V-AF 75mm T1.9 FE was the first in the new series of cinema lenses from Samyang, "V-AF". The idea of the series is to combine compact size, low weight, and focus on optimization for video creators with smooth and precise autofocus and support for 8K resolution.
The new Samyang V-AF 20mm T1.9 has the same features as the other V-AF lenses in the series with gears for so-called "follow focus", a tally light for recording indication, and the same design as the other lenses in the series.

Samyang is also releasing a new anamorphic adapter that will work with the V-AF lenses to provide the distinct anamorphic look that many filmmakers desire.
The adapters provide a fast maximum aperture of T1.9 and work with Samyang V-AF 24, 35, 45, 75, and 100 mm. It covers full frame for all lenses except the 24 mm which covers APS-C/Super 35.
The adapter provides a 1.7x compression factor, an adequate aspect ratio for Cinemascope, enabling panoramic effects even in regular photography scenarios. The adapter produces an oval bokeh with amber-colored flare effects instead of the usual blue for a more natural feel.

In addition to the optical features, the adapter also has a Soft Focus mode that provides an image with even softer focus for a more creative look. It has a built-in Tally light on the front and electronic contacts that communicate with both the lens and camera.

The Samyang V-AF 20mm T1.9 and the adapter will be released in May 2024. The recommended price for the Samyang V-AF 20mm T1.9 Sony FE is 7,499 kronor including VAT. For the Samyang V-AF Anamorphic adapter, it is 11,690 kronor including VAT.
