Leica increases its sales for the third year in a row

Camera manufacturer Leica sees increased revenue primarily in its camera sales.

In a press release, the camera manufacturer states that it has increased its sales revenue for the year spanning 2022/2023 (1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023), for the third consecutive year. With revenues of 485 million euros compared to 444 million euros the previous year, Leica has set a new revenue record.

Matthias Harsch, CEO of Leica Camera AG, writes that the Leica M11 and Leica Q3 are two of the contributing factors to the result. The Leica Q3 was released in May 2023 and demand has been high – it is only now, at the beginning of 2024, that the camera is back in stock with retailers.

Furthermore, he writes that Leica is optimistic about upcoming sales and that sales through their own stores increased by 16 million euros.

At the beginning of February, we announced that the arrow for camera sales is pointing downwards with statistics on Swedes' consumption for 2023, compared to the previous year 2022 – with a -13 percent decrease. The explanation is believed to be more expensive housing, energy, and food, which means that people are cutting back on other expenses. The decrease for cameras specifically is nearly double the average for consumer electronics, which is -7 percent for the full year.
